Now the Water Vellumental won't attack for one turn. The earth beneath Mario's feet will rise to protect him from the wave of water that floods the ring. When it looks like this, direct Mario to the Earth Vellumental Magic Circle (make sure you turn it on first). If you can manage to land on the x2 icon or the additional action icon before making your attack, that would be best.Įventually, this water diety will power up with water whisking around it for its heaviest attack. While the dragon is on the ground, attack with your strongest hammer. See if you can manage to hit the x2 icon or the additional action icon along the way to whittle the boss's health down further. This will bring the boss crashing to the ground. While the Water Vellumental is in the air, maneuver Mario close enough that he can jump on the dragon's back. This aquatic boss will wash away any icons that are on the same wedge as the water sprouts, so make sure to keep that in mind while creating a path. Paper Mario Water Vellumental (Image credit: iMore) Have Mario land on the 1,000-Fold Arms Magic Circle and then follow the prompts to defeat the Missile Maestro. To finish Colored Pencils off, you need to maneuver the field in such a way that the 1,000-Fold Arms Magic Circle is on and placed directly behind the case. When you get the boss's HP down halfway, it will start using a very powerful attack called Rainbow Roll, where the pencils all glow and spin together while aimed at our favorite plumber. Repeat to whittle down the enemy's health. Colored Pencils will hurt itself and become dizzy again. Similarly, if your health gets low, try to place hearts in your path.Īfter the Colored Pencils have reloaded, once again, maneuver yourself behind the case and use the 1,000-Fold Arms to close the lid. If the Magic Circles aren't turned on, try to place an On button in your path to set up for next time. The final phase is by far the greatest, with you having to solve one final (albeit tricky) ring puzzle while having to dodge King Olly’s attacks in a similar manner to guarding, which culminates in a final rush attack with the Origami Hammer to cap off the fight. When the Colored Pencils are dizzy, run in and make another attack with your strongest hammer (from any side). His second phase, while probably the weakest of them all, was still really cool, with it requiring mastery of the rush attack and very precise jump timing to make it over some of the obstacles. The first phase might be as easy as turning a doorknob, but I actually found it to be great fun, as it tests your knowledge of the Vellumentals that you’ve been using throughout the whole game with some very nice spins on their attack, like the Ice Maze getting reshuffled around some more, and the Water Vellumental’s waterspouts spinning around in order to fake you out, along with the fact that the boss recovers HP the longer you take to attack, which makes figuring out some of the ring puzzles particularly intense. King Olly has a much better final boss fight than the examples I just mentioned by a long shot. Still, this boss fight is about as much fun as having to walk through a desert while wearing boots made out of solid steel The second phase doesn’t help, though the awesome remix of the Super Star/Wing Cap theme helps it a little bit. Absolutely nothing interesting happens at all in the first phase aside from a couple of enemies appearing to stretch out the fight for even longer unless you just so happen to have the correct sticker. Stupidly long health bar, boring battle, and the requirement of a heaping ton of stickers just to have a chance at beating him. Sticker Star Bowser is the literal textbook definition of an unfunny joke. There’s no clever Pixl usage or 3D flipping, its just you jumping on his head a couple of times, which just felt unrewarding, especially for how intense this fight was made up to be So what happens? We jump on his head three times with Bowser and he dies. Tippi and Bleck use their love to restore the hearts and render Super Dimentio vulnerable. Dimentio has the Chaos Heart and Luigi in his grasp and have sent Tippi and Bleck to Dimension D where they cannot stop him. Super Dimentio just felt like a massive letdown to me. Now don’t get me wrong, he’s far from the best boss in the series, but in my opinion, I believe that Olly’s boss fight was much better than some of the final bosses that preceded him, those being Super Dimentio and Sticker Star Bowser I think that King Olly’s boss fight was a really cool and very creative way to cap off a great game. So I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about how King Olly’s final battle was the worst one in the franchise, and I’m.
